I had seen Blausee in one of the pictures on Instagram and a quick search surprised me that this jewel was just an hour and a half drive from Basel.
What more could I ask for?
Saturday seemed a partly sunny day at least better than the heavy snowfall I had found just a week back in Black Forest.
Blausee is a small lake in the Bern district. My favourite of all cities in Switzerland is Bern and now seeing Blausee was all on my mind. Balu meaning blue and see meaning lake the place gets its name as a blue lake.
The place offers a huge parking lot and just walking a 100 meters I could get a glimpse of pristine blue lake in front of me.
I stood there amazed at the crystal clear emerald blue water shining with snow shadows.
I tried catching the sun dimly falling on the far mountains above, theΒ sunrays had a balming effect on the mountains.
The surrounding area of the Blausee has a lot in store: A mystic nature park, with walkways, fireplaces, picnic areas and a playground for kids. Discover the Blausee museum, bouldering or the lake with a glass-bottom boat β all that in the middle of a unique backdrop.Β These activities are available in the winter months.
There were plenty of tree trunks at the bottom of the lake that were clearly visible inside. I haven’t seen a clean and clear lake than the Blausee.
Well it is a nature park with walking trails around, the lake has a hotel around with a wonderful spa.
I however had been for a day trip and was back by evening after capturing the beautiful lake in my camera.
I clicked a few pictures and sat in its serenity getting emotional of many marvels mother nature had to offer.
There is a manmade mermaid structure in the water that gets lit up when it gets dark, it creates a lot of inquisitiveness of Β the thought put behind it.
Winter isn’t a peak season with all activities open best time would be in October when fishing is officially allowed in the lake.
Love, love, just love the place and the pictures captured. Beautifully magnificent. The place does has a beauty to engulf you in its charm.
