“Happy Birthday Tina!” Shashi hugged his sixteen year old daughter and handed her a nicely wrapped gift.
“Wow, what is it dad?” exclaimed Tina with all excitement and tore open the wrapper that her dad had almost taken half an hour to pack.
“Oh it’s an iphone, wow dad, so love you. I really wanted this, I feel so content in life.”
Shashi’s mind stuck to that one sentence, of being content in life, the drudgeries at work, a hefty alimony, a home loan, he didn’t know what being content in life was.
He placed his hand on her daughter’s head and then walked out of the room planning the next steps after receiving the pink slip that evening from his boss.

If B was for Bravery then C has to be for Content, said Shashank in his over excited tone. I agree, I said thinking do we have a difference of opinion, well let’s see 🙂 So our take on the same emotion Bravery were like chalk and cheese and well accepted. To read his thought on Content click here.

hmm…. Well, Shashi Jindabad!
🙂 sahi 🙂
I like the irony you have weaved.
Thanks Aditya 🙂
You have created a contrast with “content” … very nice read and touching!
Yes at a younger age big things come so easy a gadget can make you feel content and then as we grow challenges of life make it so difficult to attain satisfaction for oneself 🙂 Thanks for liking it Moon 🙂
I was about to write something but again agree more with Moon’s comment here…. yeah ‘contrast’ with ‘content’ .
Bravo girl !!
Thanks babe, the contrast was brought to depict the satisfaction change from age to age 🙂
Skillfully woven Ananya 🙂 If only one could be content purchasing anything… Challenges of life, difference in age and expectations wonderfully portrayed here. hehe, the still excited Shashank, more now, ponders.. diff take indeed.. but we very well know what’s priceless for us j… Loving your fsf 🙂
It’s all about what keeps one happy, for some materialistic pleasures mean a lot and for some even a gajra or a simple smile may work isn’t it j, so I second we very well know what’s priceless for us! Bringing me to this form of writing is your gift 🙂
Omg! A hefty alimony and a pink slip !. What a contrast ! Nice ..How I hope he also got a golden parachute with the pink slip. 🙂
How I wish there was no divorce and his wife was his soulmate…I am positive then this wouldn’t have happened then as he would be content within 🙂
That was sad. When read about the pink slip, I felt this heavy thud in my heart…
Lay offs is such a simplicity these days, gone are the times when stability was the key Sreesha.

Hi Shweta,
Indeed, quite an interesting take on the subject. Being content is something which is relative and changes with time and location. Human minds are so timid, it becomes difficult to make it content and satisfied. Keep posting.

Jay
My Blog
rightly said Jay, as they say happiness is a state of mind and if one is not content within no amount of materialistic pleasure can make one content, welcome to my blog 🙂 I visited yours and liked it much!
Contentment in an iphone. Sheesh, I really don’t know where the new generation is headed 😀 . It still is just a phone, or atleast I like to think so :>D
Look whos back!! Are you back from UK Vinay…in any case welcome back buddy..and the new gen I so agree 🙂
He he yeaa.. :).. feels good to be back, It was an amazing month, I wish I could stay there for a little longer, so much to see and experience..
As for the post, the stupid new gen 😛 😀
If only contentment could be perpetual! Unfortunately it is often just temporary lasting only till the next interesting thing comes along. I loved your contrast.
Yes atleast for teens thats surely the case, for growns the time taken to get something that makes you feel content is so long that they either lose determination or the feeling loses its charm by the time they attain it….
