Shringar
The king walked into the maze which decided only the one that found the way out would go to heaven and rest?
After several turns he stood there mesmerised by her beauty, she looked like a goddess in the saffron green silk attire with ornaments of gold and precious gems covering her well defined curves.
Her face radiant, eyes big enhanced with kohl, fragrant flowers around her hair and her tantalizing smile luring him further, he confirmed to make it to the goal and a sense of triumph to reach heaven won his heart.
“She is mine!” his confidence and pride took over as he tried to wrap her in his arms, she laughed loud as he turned to ashes, another victim gave in to lust and attachment.
Her smile faded as she transformed into one with long protruding teeth, a huge body and burnt hair, the curse would end for the goddess only when a king would not give in to her beauty – Shringar for others was meant to enhance beauty for her was a curse.

After our successful and pleasurable journey through A-Z April Challenge, Shashank (embarkwithmythoughts) and I are delighted to bring to you nine beautiful emotions that make the Nav Ras. A rasa (Sanskrit: रस lit. ‘juice’ or ‘essence’) denotes an essential mental state and is the dominant emotional theme of a work of art or the primary feeling that is evoked in the person that views, reads or hears such a work.
The Natyasastra identifies nav rasas with eight corresponding Bhava (mood) and this month we will try to win your hearts with our five sentence fictions on each bhava. Hope you enjoy it!
Today’s emotion – Shringar (शृङ्गारं) Dressing up, Love, Attractiveness. Presiding deity: Vishnu. Colour: Green.

Awesome!
Loved the verbal portrayal of the beauty! The pic was redundant. You were successful in creating a mental image, which was as accurate as any high-def image.
Too good! Expecting the remaining eight to be as brilliant!
Thank you for the compliment that you could visualize her Shringar without the picture, thank you so much for liking the story 🙂
Oh! that was a shocking and stunning end. Well written.
Thank you Indrani, happy you liked it 🙂
Oh! What a curse and that also shows how men easily become a victim of beauty…. 😛
Great one, bestie…. loved the plot… 🙂
Thank you so much bestie, i am so happy today, I saw your name in BNLF and that confirms we are meeting yayiii 🙂
Shringar! Nice post-Shweta
Thank you so much 🙂
She may have seen it as a curse, but you know, if anyone who tries to force themselves upon a woman turns into ashes, then I am sure a lot of us would welcome that curse!
Can’t agree more Sree, the curse was not that though 🙂
Great post.Loved the way who have written.

Sriram & Krithiga

Thank you Bhavik, omg aatlu saras varnan mara lakhan maate is simply amazing. Thank you ke tamne gamyu 🙂
Nice, this kinda seems like a jain story with a moral at the end. Kinda like the ones they reach during Nirvana where they realise that beauty and lust is temporary and there is a life of meaning which trumps all.
hahah jain story….feels like an Indian form of zen story 🙂
Mythological and beautiful. Shringar has been intensely portrayed here in just five sentence. Loved it 🙂
Thank you Gowthama, happy you liked it 🙂
Love the concept of writing with the Navras as a theme
I wanted to take this up for A-Z itself Lata but wouldn’t fit in 30 days 🙂
Fabulous. Loved it. You guys are doing great teaming up. It so works!
this one reads like the asura/daiyan kind of stories that my grandma told
bahut sundar… great message at the end…
Love the meaning you’ve brought out Ananya. So much in this short post. Shringar – a woman loves and takes time to wear, with delicacy and grace puts on for it to be observed by the one. And, the Goddess now despising it is waiting for someone to notice her true shringar even if the appearance isn’t lovely or too enticing. Shringar couldn’t be brought out in a better way and the narration in these few words has painted the imagery so well. Lovely Ani!
Awesome. 🙂 My imaginations knew no bounds while reading this. Like weaving an epic story out of 5 sentences. Loved it to core.
